Introducing Model Council
As frontier AI models become more advanced and specialized, people increasingly turn to Perplexity for model selection and accurate answers from any model they choose.
Only Perplexity offers access to all of the top AI models, and our data show that model performance is increasingly varied across different tasks and questions. In other words, what’s best for coding tasks is often suboptimal for research or creative work. But, beyond our published data for enterprises, how can you know which model is best for your query?
Today we are launching Model Council, a multi-model research feature that brings several models together for one answer. Instead of verifying your queries across multiple models manually, Model Council allows you to run the same query across several models at once.
How it works
When you select Model Council in the main Perplexity interface, your query runs across three of the models available on Perplexity at once, such as Claude Opus 4.6, GPT 5.2, and Gemini 3.0. A synthesizer model reviews the outputs, resolves conflicts where possible, and gives you one answer that shows where the models agree and where they differ.

Why multi-model matters
Every AI model has blind spots. It might overlook context, lean toward certain perspectives, or fill gaps with confident guesses. For research you're acting on, it's a big risk.
Model Council builds on Perplexity’s advantage of using multiple models. Instead of switching between models, you can now query several at once and get one combined answer. When the models converge, you can move faster with confidence; when they disagree, you know to dig deeper.

When to use Council mode
Model Council is especially valuable when accuracy and perspective matter:
Investment research: Get balanced views on stocks, markets, or financial decisions where model bias could be costly.
Complex decisions: Evaluate options for major purchases, career moves, or strategic choices with input from multiple reasoning approaches.
Creative brainstorming: Surface ideas for gifts, travel plans, or content by drawing on different models' strengths.
Verification: Cross-validate information when you need to be confident you're getting it right.
