Perplexity APIs Power AI Browsing on Samsung Devices
This week, Samsung launched Browsing Assist, a conversational AI assistant built directly into Samsung Browser on Galaxy Android devices and Windows PC, reaching more than 1 billion Samsung devices.

This extends a partnership that already makes Perplexity the AI behind two of the three assistants on the Galaxy S26: the native Perplexity assistant and Bixby, which uses Perplexity APIs for search and reasoning.
From Comet to an API
We built Comet as the first AI-native browser. Millions of people use it every day to research, compare options, summarize content, and complete tasks without leaving the browser.
What we learned building Comet is that AI browsing requires more than search in a sidebar. The system has to perceive and interact with web environments, maintain context across tabs, decide when to search broadly versus read deeply, and take real actions when the task calls for it. Accuracy requirements for browser automation are higher than for retrieval alone.

Scale and speed
Browser automation and multi-tab context handling are powered by a custom-built API endpoint for Samsung Browser. It’s made for the speed, coverage, and scale Samsung needs.
Browsing Assist runs on a dedicated single-tenant Perplexity cluster with zero data retention on all API inputs.
Browse anywhere
Galaxy users can ask for sourced answers while browsing any page. They can summarize webpages, including authenticated content they are already signed in to view. They can search browsing history in natural language, manage tabs conversationally, and take actions across multiple open tabs. Conversations sync across devices. Start on a Galaxy phone and continue on a Windows PC.
Browsing Assist is now available in the US and South Korea. On Android, it is rolling out via Samsung Browser app update. On Windows PC, it is available in the latest version of the Samsung Browser. More devices and regions will follow.
These are the same capabilities millions of developers and Comet users rely on daily, now available to Samsung's global user base. The core search, reasoning, and orchestration capabilities that power Browsing Assist are also available to developers through the Search API, Embeddings API, and Agent API.
