Perplexity Joins the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition

The NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition is a collaboration of AI labs working together to advance open models. Today we are announcing Perplexity is a founding member of this important initiative by NVIDIA.

The first project is a base model co-developed by Mistral AI and NVIDIA, with members contributing data, evaluations and domain expertise. Everything produced will be open sourced.

Open models are essential for innovation in AI. Pre-training to establish a base model is the most expensive and resource-intensive stage of frontier model development. By contributing our expertise in frontier model development alongside other labs in the coalition, we can help build stronger open foundations together.

We post-train different open models for each stage of answering a question, from query parsing and retrieval to reranking and drafting the final response. This lets us precisely tune latency, cost, and relevance.

We recently added Nemotron 3 Super to model selectors in Perplexity. Nemotron 3 Super is a 120-billion-parameter open model that combines advanced reasoning capabilities to efficiently complete tasks with high accuracy for autonomous agents.

Nemotron 3 Super is now available in the Perplexity search bar, through our Agent API, and in Perplexity Computer, integrated directly into our search process to strengthen the open model layer that powers answers for millions of users every day.
