Incognito mode
Yes, you can use incognito mode by clicking on your profile name in the bottom left corner of the interface and selecting "Incognito" from the dropdown.
Note: If you are not signed into Perplexity, your threads are anonymous by default, so there is no need for incognito mode.
General settings
Customize your Perplexity experience, like your preferred language and notification preferences.
Interface appearance
You can choose between light or dark theme, or you can match the interface to your system's theme.
Language
The interface language is inferred from your browser and operating system settings. If you want to change languages, click the dropdown menu under “General Settings” and select a new one.
Account settings
Manage your login details, password, and account security to keep everything safe.
Privacy controls
The “AI Data Usage” feature allows us to use your search data to improve our AI models. If you prefer to exclude your data from this process, simply turn off this setting.
Username and avatar
Change your username and avatar to personalize your experience. They will always remain private unless you choose to share a collection or thread. Even then, you have full control and would need to explicitly make them public.
Can I change my email address or sign-in method?
We are unable to change email addresses for existing accounts or create passwords on behalf of our users. If you must change accounts, we suggest you create a new one.
You can sign up using Google or a sign-in link mailed directly to your inbox.
If you have an existing Pro subscription, you can have it transferred to a new Perplexity account by emailing pro@perplexity.ai.
Can you transfer my data to another account?
We cannot transfer data from one account to another. However, if you’d like to keep your Threads, you can add them to a Collection and invite yourself as a collaborator on the new account.

Profile settings
The Profile section in your settings is where you capture all of your unique preferences for gathering information so the AI can remember them and use that information to give you results that fit you best.
You can find your AI Profile in your Settings page in the top right corner tab.
Profile section
Include details that help Perplexity personalize your experience, such as age, location, interests, values, preferred language, and even dietary needs.
For example, if you enjoy science and speak English, the AI will tailor responses accordingly. Share as much or as little as you like.
Location
Your location is inferred from your network but can be manually set in your Profile settings. If you don't set a location in your profile, responses will be based on your network location.
Preferred response language
By default, Perplexity response language matches your query, but you can be override this in your Profile settings.
To set your preferred response language, go to your Profile in settings, and scroll to “Preferred response language.” Click the dropdown and choose a new language.
Why aren’t my AI profile criteria applied to Perplexity’s responses?
Make sure you activated your AI Profile. Navigate to AI Profile on the left side menu on the web or towards the bottom of the page if you are on a mobile web browser, then hit Activate at the top right corner.
Note: There are technical limitations to what assistants and models can do with custom instructions. It is not possible to "fine-tune" models through the AI profile or add documents or images for reference.
