When you're working through a tricky math problem set, Perplexity’s Study Mode makes it easier to truly understand the problem, not just get the answer. You can upload a snapshot of the question, and Perplexity will walk you through the logic and steps needed to solve it.
Your search
Take a photo or screenshot of the math problem and upload it directly in Study Mode. You can also add a note or ask a specific question, such as:

Attach a photo of the math problem to this query in Perplexity.
Study Mode automatically detects the mathematical expressions and reasoning involved, and sets up a structured, stepwise breakdown for you to follow.
You can also add extra instructions like “assume I’m in Algebra 2” or “explain like I’m 15” so the explanation matches your level.
Perplexity's answer
Study Mode analyzes the attached problem, rewrites it clearly, and then:
Identifies what the question is really asking.
Shows each algebraic or numeric step in order.
Explains why each step is valid, so you can reuse the method later.
Checks for common mistakes and misconceptions along the way.
Finishes with the final answer and a quick recap of the method.
Instead of just seeing a solved equation, you get a guided mini-tutoring session tailored to the exact problem in your screenshot. You can then follow up with questions like “show this as a graph” or “how would this show up on an exam?” to deepen your understanding.
Tips
Ask Perplexity to “explain each step” or “show alternative methods” for additional learning.
